Santa Catarina pioneered plastic processing 55 years ago, when the first manual plastic injection machine was introduced in the state. At that time, 200 plastic processing industries employed 19,000 people and reached a turnover of R$ 1.7 billion in 1999. With this performance, Santa Catarina became the second-largest plastics hub in Brazil, behind only São Paulo.
The second edition of Interplast brought together more than 250 national companies from Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and international companies from Austria, Germany, England, Denmark, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, South Korea, China, and the United States in 196 booths.
Business deals totaling R$ 100 million were generated, expected to be realized within twelve months after the fair—R$ 10 million more than initially anticipated. Around 25,000 people attended Expoville during the five days of the event, 70% of whom were professionals from all over Brazil—AL, AM, BA, CE, ES, GO, MA, MG, MS, PE, PR, RJ, RS, SC, SP, among others. International visitors came from Germany, Argentina, Cape Verde, Chile, South Korea, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Japan, Italy, Paraguay, Portugal, Taiwan, and Uruguay, among others.
The third edition of the National Plastics Technology Integration Trade Show and Congress generated R$ 115 million in business and attracted an audience of 25,000 people. Interplast 2004 concluded as the second most important event in Brazil’s plastics industry and the largest business-focused event ever held in Joinville (SC).
More than 250 companies from Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro participated. Business deals totaled R$ 15 million more than the previous edition. The trade show grew and, with the new pavilion, gained improved infrastructure.
28,000 people visited the Expoville Pavilions during Interplast 2008, held from August 25 to 29 in Joinville.

Interplast becomes Latin america’s leading plastics trade show in 2010, expands area by 12%.
The sixth edition of Interplast, held from August 23 to 27, became the largest plastics trade show in Latin America in terms of exhibition space and number of exhibitors in 2010, as well as the biggest in southern Brazil within the sector. The number of exhibitors grew 25% compared to 2008, reaching a total of 500 companies. The fair occupied an area of 20,000 m², 12% larger than in 2008. Interplast established itself as a benchmark for solutions and alternatives for modernizing the industrial sector in southern Brazil, bringing together the leading companies in both the domestic and international markets. In addition to exhibitors representing all Brazilian states, the event also featured companies from seven other countries—Germany, Canada, USA, China, Taiwan, Argentina, and Turkey.
The crowded aisles and the high level of products and new technologies presented by exhibitors demonstrated why Interplast was established as the most important trade show in the sector in Latin America in 2012. Running in parallel, the 1st Latin American edition of EuroMold Brasil – the World Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Product Development – took place. Originally held in Frankfurt, Germany, EuroMold is the world’s leading moldmaking event. It is estimated that the trade shows generated around R$ 480 million in business during the five days of the event and in the six months that followed, as a result of the contacts initiated there. With visitors from 23 Brazilian states and 23 other countries—mostly from South America, followed by the USA and Europe—the total audience surpassed 28,000 visits. Plastic industry professionals represented the largest share of visitors, followed by those from the automotive, electronics, electrical appliances, construction, energy, petrochemical, engineering, transport and logistics, and foundry sectors, among others.
With strong participation, highly qualified visitors, and a clear focus on the plastics and molds sectors, Interplast and EuroMold BRASIL once again made a difference, closing with a projection of around R$ 500 million in business over the coming months. Over the five days of the event, more than 30,000 attendees participated, with visitors coming from 22 Brazilian states (Alagoas, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Federal District, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, and Sergipe).
Defying the economic crisis, companies invested in the trade shows and left satisfied, with several deals closed. From August 16 to 19, the city of Joinville (SC) hosted more than 380 exhibiting brands from the plastics, molds, and tooling sectors. Betting on the city and going against the tide of the crisis, companies presented new trends and technologies at Interplast and Euromold Brasil. With a general atmosphere of satisfaction among exhibitors, many closed deals during the event itself, while others took advantage of the environment to initiate new contacts. As a result, R$ 350 million in business was generated in the twelve months following Interplast.
The plastics industry returned to a vibrant pace with the 11th Interplast. Over four days, 30,000 people attended the event, including visitors, exhibitors, congress participants, and Business Roundtable attendees.
The audience included representatives from 695 cities and 24 states, especially from Santa Catarina, Paraná, and São Paulo. Visitors also came from the Northeast region, and the trade show welcomed international attendees from 17 countries, with a strong presence from South America, including Paraguay and Argentina.
Showcasing the latest technologies, equipment, raw materials, and innovations developed by the industry since the start of the pandemic, the event featured 400 national and international brands.
As a result of this major gathering, the 11th Interplast is estimated to have generated R$ 300 million in business, expected to unfold over the next twelve months—representing a 16% growth compared to the previous edition held in 2018.
