From August 13th to 16th, one of the main fairs in the plastic segment in Brazil reaches its 12th edition, with 25 thousand m² of exhibition area
The assembly of the 12th edition of Interplast – Fair and Congress for the Integration of Plastic Technology, is in full swing and Joinville-SC is preparing to host the largest fair held in the state. There are 25 thousand m² of exhibition space, occupying 100% of the useful area of the three pavilions at the Expoville exhibition center. The event will be held from August 13th to 16th, 2024, in the state that is home to one of the main centers of the plastic processing industry in Brazil. Added to this, Joinville is home to the second largest tooling hub in the country, especially those focused on the production of plastic molds for injection and extrusion, many of which feature high technology.
With the organization of SIMPESC – Plastic Material Industry Union of the State of SC and the organization of Messe Brasil, Interplast is consolidated as one of the main companies in Brazil in the plastic transformation industry, bringing together the complete industry chain, from raw material, machines and equipment, industry 4.0 technologies, software and services. This edition of the fair received a 60% increase in the number of exhibitors, compared to the previous edition, reaching a thousand brands from eight countries: Germany, Austria, Brazil, China, Dubai, Italy, Taiwan and Uruguay.
The expectation of the organizer Messe Brasil is to reach the 30 thousand visitors of the previous edition, held in 2022, and the mark of R$300 million in business, within 12 months after the event. “Interplast is the only fair that brings together the entire plastics chain and shows the strength of our state, which has high industry growth rates and concentrates some of the main plastic processing companies in Brazil, recognized for the quality of their products in worldwide”, says Richard Spirandelli, director of Messe Brasil.
For Fernando Pedro de Oliveira, president of SIMPESC, Interplast has a direct and significant impact on the competitiveness of plastic processing industries in Santa Catarina. “As it is a showcase for the latest technologies and global innovations, local companies have the opportunity to learn about and adopt these technologies, improving production efficiency, reducing costs and increasing product quality”, he argues.
PLASTIC EVENT ATTRACTIONS
In addition to the fair, Interplast has a series of parallel activities focused on knowledge and business, with free access to the public. The Innovation and Technology Congress – CINTEC which takes place on the 14th and 15th of August, at Interplast, will be promoted by the SENAI Institutes of Innovation and Technology in Santa Catarina. On the first day the program is for guests. On the 15th there will be speakers from companies such as Braskem, BASF and Plaszom and professors from UniSENAI. Among the topics to be covered at the technical congress are bioeconomy, decarbonization, circular economy, operational efficiency and sustainable products.
The Sector Chamber of Machines, Equipment for Quality Control, Testing and Measurement (CSQI) of the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry (ABIMAQ) promotes the Plastics Metrology Seminar, which will be held at Interplast, on August 15th. With the theme “Productivity gains and improvement in waste with instrumentation and quality for the plastics industry”, participants will have access to practical cases of application of technologies, in addition to exploring the latest news and trends in the sector. “The Plastics Metrology Seminar is an opportunity for industry professionals to learn about the latest innovations and best practices in quality and instrumentation”, says Murilo Peixoto, president of CSQI.
Held on the second day of the event (14/08), throughout the day, the Business Roundtable is a consolidated space at Interplast and brings together buyers and suppliers at negotiation tables, with dozens of individual meetings in a single day, focused on demands and solution offers. Among those confirmed are companies in segments such as Automotive, Packaging and Civil Construction. In the previous edition, 586 business meetings were held.
Exhibitors will have the opportunity to present their solutions and technologies through Workshops aimed at industry professionals. The workshops will be held from August 13th to 16th and the complete schedule is available on the Interplast website, where registration can be made. There will be 29 lectures in more than 30 hours of presentations given by experts in solutions for the plastics processing industry.
In another edition of Interplast, Termotécnica organizes the Espaço Recicla Plástico presenting how the circular economy happens in practice with the involvement of different links in the plastic chain. In a partnership with entities in the sector, Espaço Recicla Plástico is sponsored by CNRPLAS – National Chamber of Plastic Material Recyclers of ABIPLAST – Brazilian Plastics Industry Association -, and Movimento Plástico Transforma. It also has the support of Projeto Isopor Amigo, Messe Brasil, promoter of Interplast, and SIMPESC. The objective of Espaço Recicla Plástico is to demonstrate how the entire process occurs, from the collection of packaging and other types of products made from post-consumer plastics, their transformation into raw materials of recycled origin until their consolidation into new products. The Interplast 2024 audience will also receive awareness information on how to contribute by correctly separating and disposing of these materials.
The Circular Economy Forum, nationally recognized for its contribution to the advancement of sustainable practices, will be held on August 14th and 15th. The meeting is aimed at professionals, academics and thought leaders committed to the sustainable future of the South region and the country. The themes focus on the life cycle of plastic, circular economy, recycling, sustainability and ESG, carbon credits, among other aspects. The complete schedule is available on the Forum page. In solidarity with Rio Grande do Sul companies affected by the heavy rains that occurred in May, the Interplast organization opened space for Rio Grande do Sul companies to present their potential and connect with other exhibitors and visitors to the fair at RSday, within the Forum’s programming, promoted by Revista Plástico Sul in partnership with the Rio Grande do Sul entities Simplas, Sinplast-RS and Simplavi, on August 13th.
The Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina (FIESC) will bring something new to Interplast. Together with the fair organizers and partner companies, FIESC is promoting the CNC Masters and Injection Masters competition. The competition follows the WorldSkills Competition model, an international professional education tournament that involves students from technical professions from all over the planet. The initiative should bring together industry workers, students of qualification, technical and higher education courses, as well as enthusiasts and independent professionals who wish to demonstrate their skills in operating CNC milling and polymer injection machines. The tests will be carried out during the four days of Interplast, which will be from August 13th to 16th, at Expoville, in Joinville.
Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas, is participating in this year’s Interplast with the launch of resins made from recycled materials, an exclusive lecture and a new feature: technical tours guided by the company’s application engineers. Visits take place twice a day, throughout the event, and offer conversations about processes, innovations, industry trends and strategies that minimize the generation of plastic waste and promote the reuse of materials. The technical tours will take visitors to the stands of Braskem partners and distributors to show the applicability of the resins in the products.
